Science Design Champions

In Term 4 of last year, the Year 3-6 class all contributed towards a project to design a new science education centre for the Port Macquarie observatory. The design they came up with was quadrilateral rooms formed around the telescope dome to form an irregular hexagonal shaped building. The criteria was that money was no object and neither was the scope of the imagination. They had rooms for people to investigate building model moon buggies, robotics, magnetism, zero gravity and space survival last as well as a planetarium, auditorium and cafe. They also included a space playground with a sandpit with Neil Armstrong's footprints and flag. On Sunday, Anthony Marco, Kobey Finlayson and Adam Carter attended the presentation on behalf of the class and received FIRST PRIZE of $1000! The students contributed varying amounts of work to the project, so we have decided to pool the money and decide on what science equipment we can buy so we all share.
